Deirdre Hawken is a Designer/Maker specialising in couture headpieces and jewellery, with many commissions for theatre, television, film and retail.
She trained in Theatre Design at Central/St.Martins. She has exhibited and sold her work widely within the UK and internationally, including the Victoria and Albert Museum London, the Crafts Council Gallery London, the Royal Festival Hall London and Kelvingrove Museum Glasgow and at Julie Artisans’ Gallery New York, and with Dazzle at various locations.
Her work is in the public collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Kyoto Costume Institute, Kyoto, Japan, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, USA, and the Hat Museum, UK, and the Costume Museum, Bath, UK.
She is a Fellow of the Society of Designer Craftsmen and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 1999 she was awarded a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship to study couture millinery.
